A Belgium Shepherd & A Tiny Rescued Owl Over Heels In Love

belgium-shepherd-and-little-owl

These photos capture a beautiful relationship. Dogs and trees and tiny owls are the cutest ever and this photography is out of this world. What a talent!

Dedicating her career to photographing wildlife, Tanja Brandt, a German photographer recently shot photographs of a highly unlikely pair of friends. A Belgian Shepherd named Ingo and a year old owlet named Poldi (Napoleon) who love each other’s company. Ingo is very protective and their bond is as strong off-camera as what we see here. They love and care for one another.

Brandt describes the relationship between Ingo and Poldi as somewhat of a ‘protector-protected’ relationship. Ingo is a guardian for Poldi, whom Brandt states “doesn’t know how to live free.”

Poldi didn’t hatch until two days after his six brothers and sisters, and has always been very vulnerable due to his size. Ingo, on the other hand, comes from a family of strong and oftentimes ruthless police dogs.

“They respect each other and they can read each other.”

Awesome best buddies. Animals are true role models for us.

In today’s world we often search for real beauty. It’s elusive. Here, quite unexpectedly, it is right before us – an unusual friendship and bond between two very different creatures who should be enemies. We would do well to learn from them.

The love between these two is undeniable.

These photos describe the most beautiful emotion of all (human and nonhuman) – love. Let’s remember that all animals are sentient beings and we should love and respect them.

A heartwarming story we human beings can learn from.

If only we humans were to take our cues about love, responsibility, devotion, and forgiveness from our animals, the world would be a better place. Ingo and Poldi show us how it’s done.

Super cute. Animals are beyond amazing, so why is most of the world still treating them as though they have no soul.

Beautiful – absolutely beautiful – brought a lump to my throat. Sweet!

These photos of Ingo and Poldi are amazing. They have a wonderful bond. Thank you, Tanja. Your work is outstanding.

Comment: These photographs are especially touching for my wife and I. We live on a rural ranch and have a Malinois for protection. To see Ingo with Poldi tells the true story of the breed. Mals are fierce and loving. An unusual combination but understood completely by those of us fortunate to have a Malinois in the family.
